Vincit Omnia Veritas

(I'm just going to excerpt the article in question; it says all that needs saying other than: It is a pity that those who vote for Bush value his bon homie at a barbecue over competence at governing. These fellows aren't going to shift too many, I fear; after all, if one is intelligent, and concerned about the country's future, one already would have decided not to vote for Bush.)
[EDIT: Changed link to a better article regarding the issue; original link is now broken]

A bipartisan group of former senior U.S. diplomats and military commanders said Wednesday that President Bush needs to be defeated in November for pursuing an overbearing, insensitive and ideology-driven foreign policy that's cost America credibility around the world.

[...]

Members of the group include:

-Retired Adm. William J. Crowe Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Reagan and ambassador to Great Britain under President Clinton;

-Charles W. Freeman Jr., ambassador to Saudi Arabia under George H.W. Bush.

-Arthur A. Hartman, ambassador to the Soviet Union under Reagan.

-Retired Marine Corps Gen. Joseph P. Hoar.

-Jack F. Matlock Jr., ambassador to the Soviet Union under Reagan.

-Retired Air Force Gen. Merrill A. (Tony) McPeak, former Air Force chief of staff under George H.W. Bush.

-Retired Adm. Stansfield Turner, head of the CIA under President Carter.

(It is still worth reading the article)
